The Best Dive Bars in Denver

Dive bars can be great for socializing and meeting new friends from all over. Some of these bars are also known for seeing local bands that you might have never seen before. Denver is known for having some of the best dive bars in the country.

Hi-Dive


The Hi-Dive is a favorite Denver dive bar located at 7 South Broadway and open from 4 pm to 2 am. The drinks are strong, reasonably priced and the bartenders friendly.

The Hi-Dive is known for the live local bands with ticket prices rarely over $12. They seem to have different bands playing there almost every night. Hi-Dive is a small music venue and dive bar all in one. If they don’t have a band lined up, they have special nights like Goth Night and 80's Dance Party. My Brother's Bar


My Brother's Bar is located in the Highland neighborhood at 2376 15th street and open from 11 am to 2 am. Serving drinks since the late 1880s, they are the oldest bar in Denver and a mix between a Denver institution and a dive bar. The bar was a hangout for author Jack Kerouac and his group with a picture of him near the back.

My Brother's Bar has a large selection of beer including craft beers and is known for serving good hamburgers including one with jalapeño cream cheese. The crowd is friendly and easygoing and there is a large parking lot in back.

 

El Chapultepec


Located at 1962 Market Street, El Chapultepec is one of Denver's oldest bars and a legendary dive bar that has been open since 1933. Known locally as "The Pec", they are close to Coors Field and a great place to have fun after a baseball game.

El Chapultepec has decent priced drinks and serves Mexican food with a friendly group of patrons and bartenders. They are best known for the jazz and blues bands that play there. They are a cash only bar and their hours are 11 am to 2 am. You can see a list of upcoming bands at the El Chapultepec website.

Don’s Club Tavern


Don’s Club Tavern is a local neighborhood dive bar that claims to be the best dive bar in Denver. This historic bar is located at 723 E. 6th Ave, where they have been serving drinks since 1947. They have strong drinks and cold beer at cheap prices plus a pool table, several TV's, shuffleboard and a digital jukebox that has any song you can think of.

Don’s Club Tavern does not have a kitchen, but you are allowed to bring food in, plus they have a rather unique vending machine with a microwave next to it. Don’s Club Tavern hours are Monday - Friday 2 pm to 2 am and weekends 11 am to 2 am.
