Surfing in Punta Mita, Mexico


Punta Mita, Mexico is just 10 miles north of Puerto Vallarta and offers excellent surfing, golfing, hotels and beaches that are not overcrowded. Surfing in Punta Mita is great all year with northwest and southwest swells. You will find waves that are suitable for surfers of all skill levels. You can start surfing as soon as you get there or go to one of their surfing schools and learn how to surf.

Traveling to Punta Mita, Mexico


There are direct flights to Puerto Vallarta from many locations in the United States and Canada. Once in Puerto Vallarta, you can get to Punta Mita by:

  • Car rental services such as Avis, Hertz and Alamo are located at the Puerto Vallarta airport. The drive to Punta Mita is about 45 minutes.
  • Airport shuttles will take you and your group to and from the airport.
  • Taxis are available in most areas. Most taxis are not metered, so set the price before you get in.

Punta Mita Hotels


Punta Mita has numerous hotels to choose from with the Hotel La Quinta del Sol as one of the highest rated hotels and best value for your money according to TripAdvisor.com. Another hotel that is recommended and caters to the surfing community is the Hotel Cinco overlooking Banderas Bay.

Prices at each hotel will vary considerably depending on the time of year you book your reservations. Peak times can be much higher than other times of the year. Some highly rated hotels include:
